Frequently Asked Questions
Get answers to common questions about using GPS Speedometer.
A zero reading alone does not show whether the device has a usable location fix. Check location permission and signal conditions before relying on the reading. Allow time for a usable location reading and keep a clear view of the sky. Acquisition time varies with the device and surroundings; there is no fixed waiting time.
Check that Location Services and location access for the app are enabled, including Precise Location where available. Keep the device date, time and time zone correct, preferably automatic. Move to a place with a clear view of the sky and allow time for a usable reading. If the problem continues, restart the app or device and compare another location app. Do not routinely disable Wi-Fi or time-zone services or reset network settings.
Speed limit data and GPS signals can vary in accuracy due to your location and map data limitations. We work to keep information as up-to-date as possible, but occasional discrepancies may happen.
Speed limit information may sometimes be missing, incomplete, or outdated, particularly in some regions where data is scarce or unavailable.
Always rely on posted road signs and adhere to traffic laws while driving.

GPS Speedometer is an iOS app, available exclusively on the Apple App Store for iPhone and iPad — there is no APK file to download.
APK files are Android installation packages and don't work on iPhone. If you found a site offering a "speedometer APK" for iPhone, avoid it — apps for iPhone can only be safely installed through the App Store.
Download the app free from the App Store using the button on this page.
Core GPS speed tracking and trip recording work without internet, with location permission and a usable GPS signal. Automatic road-speed-limit data and weather need internet. Maps and other connected features may be unavailable offline.
How fast am I going? Tap Start and allow location to see an estimate of your speed over ground in mph, km/h or knots. A usable location reading is needed before a number appears. No app download or account is required. The browser tool and GPS Speedometer for iPhone are separate products. The native app adds saved trips, basic HUD and optional PRO features such as Picture in Picture.
